CHRISTIAN EVANGELISTIC SOCIETY OF WESTERN PA

CES is a non-profit ministry extension of the Independent Christian Churches in the greater Pittsburgh region. The mission of the CES is to partner with local churches, organizations, and individuals who share the commission to plant new churches and equip and encourage existing ministries in Western PA.

The history of the Independent Christian Churches and of the Christian Evangelistic Society go hand in hand. Throughout the last century, CES has been instrumental in starting and encouraging many of the Christian Churches in the greater Pittsburgh area.

Church Planting
The future of the organization is bright as the cooperative efforts in church planting come to the forefront. The CES serves as a catalyst to create partnerships to start new churches in Western PA. The Hills Church is a shining example of this commitment. The Hills Church meets in South Park, in Pittsburgh's South Hills. The CES provides monthly support to The Hills and their future is promising.

CES is dedicated to planting churches. We believe that just as our children grow up and have their own children, so too, churches mature and should aim to replicate through new church plants. The CES offers to be a catalyst to initiate and help those new churches launch and grow.

Equipping and Encouraging
Equipping and encouraging existing ministries is another avenue of our ministry. Twice a year, in the fall and spring, the CES sponsors a conference, whose themes are relevant to our contemporary ministry climate. Each one features guest speakers, music, and fellowship. Christian Churches around Western PA are invited to attend because we value the interdependence of our independent movement.

The CES also offers pulpit supply speakers and church consulting services as part of our commitment to encourage and help equip local ministries.

The established vision of equipping and encouraging also gives us an opportunity to reach out to another segment of our society, the college community, through the Christian Student Fellowship Campus Ministry at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh. We believe that ministry to college students is a vital part of expanding God's Kingdom to the ends of the earth and our ongoing support is an eternal investment that will pay off on a global scale.

Hunter Memorial Trust, a branch of the CES, equips churches and parachurch organizations by offering competitive loans and annual grants.

The possibilities for CES are only limited by our imaginations and our faith in God. May both soar to new heights as we work to honor God.
